Governance

The governance structure of ESF was substantially changed after the ESF Ordinance (Amendment) Bill was passed by the Legislative Council. A 26-member Board of Governors has now been introduced to replace the previous structure of an Executive Committee and a 130-member Foundation.

The Board of Governors includes independent members, directly elected parent members and representatives from standing committees. The membership of the Board is as follows:

Mr Peter Clarke
Ms Sophia Kao
Dr Kim Mak
Prof Felice Lieh Mak
Mr Samuel Poon
Mr Markus Shaw
Mr Kevin Taylor

Representatives of the Committee of School Council Chairmen Mr Gordon Lamb
Mr Bill Sharp
Ms Virginia Wilson
Directly elected parent members Mr Nicholas Bilcliffe

There are also standing committees for Remuneration, Audit and Finance. Each of our schools has a Council which comprises a Chairman and representatives of parents, teachers, support staff and the wider community, as well as the Chief Executive’s representative. The relationship between these different bodies is represented in this diagram:
